    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contact mechanics; Rolling contact fatigue; Pitting; Spalling; Slip; Thermal elastohydrodynamic.; Kontaktmekanik; Rullande kontaktutmattning; Pitting; Glidning; Termisk elastohydrodynamik.; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Rolling contacts are utilized in many technical applications, both in bearings and in the contacts between gear teeth. These components are subjected to high loads in many of their applications. The high loads causes very high contact pressures which may cause rolling contact fatigue, often denoted as pitting or spalling. LÄS MER

    Författare :Tania Loaiza; Peter Hedström; Mårten Olsson; Steve Ooi; Prasath Babu; Harry Bhadeshia; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microstructural decay; microscopy; rolling contact fatigue; Hybrid 60 steel; Bearing steel; 52100; dislocations; ferrite microbands; Mikrostrukturell nedbrytning; mikroskopi; rullande kontaktfatigue; Hybrid 60-stål; dislokationer; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis aims to enhance our understanding of material decay in high-strength steels used for bearing applications. The primary objective is to investigate the microstructural changes in two high-strength steels: 52100 steels, a popular bearing steel, and Hybrid 60, a relatively new bearing steel designed for long fatigue life and use at elevated temperatures. 3. 3. Initiation of rolling contact fatigue from asperities in elastohydrodynamic lubricated contacts

    Författare :Carl-Magnus Everitt; Bo Alfredsson; Stefan Björklund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spalling; Pitting; Slip; Elastohydrodynamic; Thermal elastohydrodynamic; Fatigue; Contact mechanics.; Pitting; Glidning; Elastohydrodynamik; Termisk elastohydrodynamik; Utmattning; Kontaktmekanik.; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Rolling contacts are utilized in many technical applications, both in bearings and in the contact between gear teeth. These components are often highly loaded, which makes them susceptible to suffer from rolling contact fatigue. This work focuses on the rolling contact fatigue mechanism of pitting. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Non-destructive measurement of near-surface cracks in railheads : with focus on ultrasonic inspections

    Författare :Rayendra Anandika; Jan Lundberg; Paul Wilcox; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rail inspection; phased array; ultrasonic testing; eddy current testing; surface cracks; non-destructive testing; NDT; railway; condition monitoring; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance;

    Sammanfattning : Near-surface cracks in railhead that caused by rolling contact fatigue (RCF) is one of a kind rail defects that degrade rail track quality. Dependent on the trail load, the cracks can reach to severe level quickly. LÄS MER
