6. Management and Outcome in ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction from a Gender Perspective
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate baseline characteristics, management and outcome in real life ST-elevation myocardial infarction [STEMI] cohorts from a gender perspective. We aimed to evaluate the total STEMI population as well as certain subgroups, such as the youngest. LÄS MER
7. Strategies to improve outcome in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction treated with primary PCI
Sammanfattning : Background: ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) caused by a ruptured atherosclerotic plaque with overlying thrombosis leads to ischemia and progressively to the death of the myocardial cells supplied by the affected coronary artery. Rapid reperfusion with primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) in an experienced centre is the preferred therapy for these patients. LÄS MER
8. Early Invasive Strategy in Unstable Coronary Artery Disease : Outcome in Relation to Risk Stratification
Sammanfattning : In unstable coronary artery disease (CAD) it still is a matter of debate which patients should undergo early revascularisation. In the FRISC II study (n=2457) an early invasive strategy was, compared to a primarily non-invasive strategy, associated with reduced mortality and myocardial infarction (MI) rates. LÄS MER
9. Cost-effectiveness and Value of Further Research of Treatment Strategies for Cardiovascular Disease
Sammanfattning : Economic evaluations provide a tool to estimate costs and health consequences of competing medical technologies, ultimately to aid decision makers when deciding which medical technologies should be funded from available resources. Such decisions inevitably need to be taken under uncertainty and it is not clear how to approach them in health care decision-making. LÄS MER
10. Invasive treatment of coronary artery disease : Aspects on antithrombotic and percutaneous treatment options
Sammanfattning : The outcome after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has improved considerably thanks to more effective antithrombotic treatment strategies and improved coronary stents. Stent thrombosis (ST) is a rare complication to PCI associated with considerable mortality and morbidity. LÄS MER
