  1. 1. Small Intestinal Neuroendocrine Tumor Analyses : Somatostatin Analog Effects and MicroRNA Profiling

    Författare :Su-Chen Li; Valeria Giandomenico; Kjell Öberg; Marco Volante; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors; Somatostatin analogs; Laser-capture microdissection; Microarray profiling and microRNA profiling; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs) originate from serotonin-producing enterochromaffin (EC) cells in the intestinal mucosa. Somatostatin analogs (SSAs) are mainly used to control hormonal secretion and tumor growth. However, the molecular mechanisms leading to the control of SI-NETs are unknown. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Profiling of Small Intestine Neuroendocrine Tumors

    Författare :Ellinor Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; small intestine neuroendocrine tumor; somatic copy number alteration; expression profiling; APLP1; survival; targeted therapy;

    Sammanfattning : Small intestine neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs) are malignant neoplasms usually presenting with disseminated disease and symptoms of hormone overproduction. Radical surgery is curative but can only be performed for localized disease. For most patients the disease follows a progressive and fatal course. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Deviant sexual behavior, hormones and sex-chromosomal relationship : A study in the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR)

    Författare :Anders Wall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacology; SHR; WKY; Rat; Copulatory performance; Deviant sexual behavior; Neuroendocrine mechanisms; Neonatal; Farmakologi; Pharmacological research; Farmakologisk forskning; Neurology; neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of the present thesis was to gain insight into some biological factors that influencedeviant sexual performance. Two inbred strains selectively bred (hypertension) from the same Wistarrat colony were used: the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) and its normotensive progenitor theWistar Kyoto rat (WKY). 4. 4. Neurochemical and neuroendocrine reactions during non-neurological surgery

    Författare :Rolf Anckarsäter; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :albumin; beta-2-microglobulin; blood brain barrier; cerebrospinal fluid; infammation; spinal anesthesia; stress;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Objective: To study changes in serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) proteins, monoamine metabolites and hormones during non-neurological surgery. Subjects and methods: Thirty-five patients without neurological or psychiatric disorders undergoing knee replacements had CSF and serum samples drawn from spinal and arterial catheters before, three hours after and on the morning after surgery. 5. 5. Neuroendocrine studies in suicide attempters and in hypersexual disorder

    Författare :Andreas Chatzittofis; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Early life adversity is associated with increased risk of high psychiatric disease, suicidal behavior as well as risky sexual behavior in adulthood. Altered functioning of several neurobiological systems, like the serotonergic system and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis associated with suicidal behavior, may stem from both genetic and developmental causes.
