21. On distributed real-time systems : the mStar environment, net-based learning and context-aware applications
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis presents two frameworks for distributed real-time systems, the mStar environment for Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW) and the Alipes architecture for context-aware applications, from the perspective of distributed teamwork and net-based learning. The mStar environment was designed to be symmetric and fully distributed, which allows all users equal access and thus full interactivity, as well as scalable through the use of IP multicast and a server-less design. 22. Network and user-level traffic adaptation for collaborative-workspace applications
Sammanfattning : Collaborative workspace applications based on IP-multicast offer a scalable solution for computer supported human-to-human communication. Although Internet-wide multicast access is not a reality, multicast deployment is steadily increasing on subnets, such as corporate and campus networks. LÄS MER
23. Quality of experience measurement, prediction and provisioning in heterogeneous access networks
Sammanfattning : In mobile computing systems, users can access network services anywhere and anytime using mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones. Users usually have some expectations about the services provided to them by different service providers, for example, telecommunication operators and network providers. LÄS MER
24. Improving group communication by harnessing information from social networks and communication services
Sammanfattning : On-line social networking and communication services are increasingly popular methods to communicate with friends, family and communities. Statistics shows that users of services like Facebook and Twitter stretches across geographical locations, professions, age groups and habits. LÄS MER
25. Remember me! Supporting Reminiscence through Digital Capture of Lifestories and Activity Recognition
Sammanfattning : Lifelogging is the act of digitally capturing a person’s life experiences in the form of digital lifestories. A digital lifestory is a view of the person’s life based on a single activity or a set of activities, where activities are defined by content data, such as images, and context data, such as related places and persons.
