  1. 6. Improved Usage of Wood Raw Material through Modification of the Kraft Process

    Författare :Daniel Tavast; Elisabet Brännvall; Mikael Lindström; Martin Lawoko; Kerstin Forsberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kraft process; impregnation; xylan; spruce; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning :    The kraft process is a complex system with many variables, and though the process is fairly well understood, there is still much we do not know.    This thesis examines some aspects of the kraft process that could prove to be of interest for the pulp and paper industry, specifically, the impact of wood chip impregnation and of the chemical structure of xylan on spruce kraft pulp. 2. 7. Pretreatment and Enzymatic Treatment of Spruce : A functional designed wood components separation for a future biorefinery

    Författare :Yan Wang; Gunnar Henriksson; Mikael E. Lindström; Hans Theliander; Martin Lawoko; Adriaan van Heiningen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kraft cooking; extended impregnation; enzymes; chemo-enzymatic separation process; peeling reaction; sodium borohydride; polysulfide; anthraquinone; sodium dithionite; mild steam explosion; biorefinery.; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : The three main components of wood, namely, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, can be used in various areas. However, since lignin covalently crosslinks with wood polysaccharides creating networks that is an obstacle for extraction, direct extraction of different wood components in high yield is not an easy matter. 3. 8. Closed-loop strategy for recycling of starch and poly (lactic acid) into new materials

    Författare :Duo Wu; Minna Hakkarainen; Monica Ek; Martin Lawoko; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Biopolymers such as starch and poly lactic acid (PLA) can be derived from agriculture and are among the most promising biobased plastics for packaging and other short term application. Considering the growing pressure of environmental safety and limited resources on our planet, it would be beneficial to retain the value of waste products by material recycling. LÄS MER
