21. Vessel occlusion and functional outcome after acute stroke : prediction and evaluation
Sammanfattning : In the acute setting of ischaemic stroke, two proven treatments are available: intravenous thrombolysis (iv-tPA) with alteplase and endovascular thrombectomy. The main aim of this thesis was to investigate the associations between symptom severity in the acute setting of ischaemic stroke and 1) the presence of arterial occlusions and 2) long-term functional outcome assessed at 3 months. 22. Neurotransmitter Imaging of the Human Brain : Detecting γ-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) Using Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Introduction: In this thesis, MEGA-edited Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) has been used for the purpose of non-invasive detection of !- aminobutyric acid (GABA) within the brain. GABA is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the human central nervous system, and glutamate is the corresponding main excitatory neurotransmitter. LÄS MER
23. Magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy in at-risk populations and preclinical Alzheimer's disease
Sammanfattning : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia. One of the earliest and most distinct features of AD is memory loss, followed by difficulties in learning and a decline in cognitive abilities. LÄS MER
24. Bladder and bowel dysfunction in children with anorectal malformations : Blås och tarmdysfunktion hos barn med anorektala missbildningar
Sammanfattning : Background: Bowel dysfunction is seen in all children with anorectal malformations (ARMs) and is strongly related to associated anomalies commonly found in these patients. The presence of a megarectosigmoid (MRS) further contributes to chronic constipation and overflow incontinence. LÄS MER
25. Advanced Spectral Analysis with Applications
Sammanfattning : Spectral analysis has advanced the last decades as a signal processing tool to extract significant information about certain properties of measured data. The practical use of spectral analysis techniques in time-series analysis has been emphasized in the immense amount of previous literature in the field and by a rapidly growing number of applications.
