  1. 11. Native protein mass spectrometry of nuclear receptor-ligand and enzyme-substrate complexes

    Författare :Johan Lengqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Mass spectrometry; electrospray; nuclear receptor; retinoid X receptor; fatty acid; membrane protein; glutathione transferase; glutathione;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear receptors (NRs) are transcription factors that are activated by the binding of low molecular weight ligands. The NR superfamily includes receptors for steroid hormones, anti-inflammatory and lipid-lowering drugs as well as endogenous compounds such as bile acids and fatty acids. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Structural studies of membrane proteins using transmission electron microscopy

    Författare :Qie Kuang; Hans Hebert; Catherine Vénien-Bryan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane proteins play important roles for living cells. They control transportation of ions, solutes, and nutrients across the membrane and catalyze metabolic reactions. Transmission electron microscopy has its advantages in convenient sample preparation, straightforward structural determination, and wide applications for diverse specimens. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Biocompatibility of synthetic nanomaterials and their applications in gene delivery

    Författare :Jingwen Shi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Nanomedicine is the use of nanoscale or nanostructured materials in medicine that due to their structure have unique medical effects. Prominent applications of nanomedicine are the use of nanomaterials for the delivery of drugs and nucleic acids (to correct gene defects). LÄS MER

  4. 14. Leukotriene C4 synthase : studies on oligomerization and subcellular localization

    Författare :Jesper Svartz; Mats Söderström; Sven Hammarström; Colin Funk; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Leukotrienes (LTs) are polyunsaturated fatty acid derivatives formed by oxygenation of arachidonic acid via the 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) pathway. Upon activation of inflammatory cells 5-LO is translocated to the nuclear envelope where it converts arachidonic acid to the unstable epoxide LTA4. LÄS MER
