  1. 31. Lokka och Porttipahta dämningsmagasin. Väntade följder av en planerad överdämning av torvmark

    Författare :Jan Pousette; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quarternary Geology; Kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : (Slutord)Denna utredning har avsett att visa, att även en överdämning av torvmark med den stora utbredning av denna som förekommer i de norra delarna av Finland och Sverige så småningom medför en förbättring av vattenförhållandena nedströms magasinen. Man kunde förvänta sig diverse svårigheter och försämringar till följd av de särpräglade drag som utmärker den organiska jordarten, men det har visat sig att den i stora drag följer schemat för oorganiskt material. 2. 32. Environmental history in southern Mozambique : Reconstruction of flooding events, hydroclimate and sea-level dynamics since mid-Holocene

    Författare :Sandra Raúl Sitoe; Jan Risberg; Elin Norström; Lars-Ove Westerberg; John Compton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Southern Africa; Limpopo River floodplain; flooding event; sea-level change; climate change; diatoms; phytoliths; mineral magnetics; grain-size; radiocarbon dating; kvartärgeologi; Quaternary Geology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to reconstruct paleoenvironment, paleohydrology and paleoclimate in coastal southern Mozambique, with emphasis on tracing past flooding events on the lower Limpopo River floodplain. In order to extend flood chronologies beyond periods covered by instrumental data, sediments from lakes on the floodplain were studied (Lake Lungué, Coassane Oxbow, Lake Magandane and Lake Soane). 3. 33. Late Cenozoic Geoarchives from Lake Baikal, Siberia

    Författare :Tomasz Sapota; Ala Aldahan; Göran Possnert; Ihsan Al-Aasm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quaternary geology; Lake Baikal; Be-10 isotope; chronology; paleoclimate; tectonics; geomagnetic field; cosmic rays; Kvartärgeologi; Quaternary geology; Kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : Three long sediment cores (BDP-98 – 600 m, BDP-96 – 200 m and BDP-93 – 100 m) drilled in Lake Baikal (Siberia) have been studied with the aims of establishing an absolute chronology and reconstructing paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental changes in the region. The location of the lake at relatively high latitude and continental interior and a thick continuous sedimentary archive that developed in a rift system tectonic setting provide unique material for this investigation. 4. 34. Quaternary paleoceanography of the Arctic Ocean : A study of sediment stratigraphy and physical properties

    Författare :Emma Sellén; Martin Jakobsson; Jan Backman; Dorthe Klitgaard-Kristensen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic Ocean; sedimentology; Quaternary; stratigraphy; physical properties; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Quaternary geology; Kvartärgeologi; Sedimentology; Sedimentologi; Marine Geoscience; marin geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : A Quaternary perspective on the paleoceanographic evolution of the central Arctic Ocean has been obtained in this PhD thesis by studying sediment cores from all of the Arctic’s major submarine ridges and plateaus. The included cores were mainly recovered during the Healy-Oden Trans-Arctic expedition in 2005 and the Lomonosov Ridge off Greenland expedition in 2007. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Diatom and Sedimentological Investigations on West Antarctic Shelf Sediment

    Författare :Charlotte Sjunneskog; Bjorg Stabell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Antarctica; climate change; diatom abundance; geochemistry; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Quarternary Geology; kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : Climate and environmental change following the retreat of the last glacial ice sheet in the Antarctic Peninsula has been interpreted, employing diatom abundance, relative abundance of Chaetoceros resting spores and diatom assemblages as proxies. These together with sedimentological data and radiocarbon dating, suggest four major events that can be further subdivided. LÄS MER
