    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study on hand injury from powered wood splitters was to describe injury epidemiology and anatomy, to rate injury severity, to evaluate the outcome after injury and to describe factors of possible importance for the occurrence of injury.By searching a computerized patient registry, 131 patients injured by wood splitters from 1995 to 2001 were identified. 2. 2. Homicide Injury Quantification : Measures of injury severity in homicide victims and associations with homicide characteristics

    Författare :Fredrik Tamsen; Ingemar Thiblin; Peter Mygind Leth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Homicide; Injury score; Injury quantification; Offender profiling; Rättsmedicin; Forensic Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Some previous studies have found that the amount and severity of injuries in homicide victims correlate with different homicide characteristics, such as the victim-offender relationship and drug influence of the offender. If such relationships exist, they may be used by homicide investigators as part of an offender profiling. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Traumatic brain injury in elderly patients

    Författare :Samuel Lenell; Per Enblad; Anders Lewén; Alfonso Lagares; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Traumatic brain injury; Elderly; Outcome; Standardized neurosurgical intensive care; Quality register; Prognostic factors; Secondary insults; Neurointensive care monitoring; Pressure reactivity index; Optimal cerebral perfusion pressure; Cerebral autoregulation; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : The increase of elderly traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients constitutes a considerable challenge. The aim was therefore to specifically study elderly TBI patients with respect to patient characteristics, neurointensive care (NIC) and outcome, and to identify age specific features, which may be important for selection of patients and optimization of NIC in the elderly.
