  1. 21. Regulatory mechanisms controlling T cell activity

    Författare :Anette Sundstedt; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; T cell superantigen anergy interleukin-2 transcription factor cytotoxicity; serology; Immunology; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on work studying the immunoregulatory mechanisms that govern the balance between activation and inactivation of T lymphocytes. Most of the work has been carried out in an experimental system using a T cell receptor (TCR-Vb3) transgenic mouse strain to obtain a homogenous T-cell population and utilizing the properties of bacterial superantigens to induce T cell responses and unresponsiveness in vivo. 2. 22. Acquisition and function of NK cell-associated molecules on T cells

    Författare :Erika Assarsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Natural killer cells; Natural Killer T cells; T cells; Receptors; Cytokines; Influenza A virus; Activation; Proliferation; Interactions;

    Sammanfattning : One challenge for multicellular organisms, including humans, is to cope with a broad variety of microorganisms and their rapid replication and alterations. To do this, both fast and specific defense mechanisms are needed that can control threatening infections. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Immunoregulatory effects of placenta-derived decidual stromal cells

    Författare :Tom Erkers; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Decidual stromal cells (DSCs) play a pivotal role in feto-maternal tolerance to prevent rejection of the fetus during pregnancy. This provides a rationale for immunomodulatory stromal cells from the placenta being isolated and used as cellular therapy for inflammatory conditions following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). 4. 24. Modulation of invariant NKT cell activity by cytokines and receptors in human disease

    Författare :Carlotta Kuylenstierna; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Invariant natural killer T (NKT) cells are innate-like lymphocytes with both immunoregulatory and cytotoxic functions that play a role as activators and regulators of the immune response in many diseases. NKT cells are believed to bridge the innate and adaptive immune systems by rapidly producing large quantities of cytokines after recognition of CD1d-presented lipid antigens. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Th1, Th2 and Treg associated factors in relation to allergy

    Författare :Camilla Janefjord; Maria Jenmalm; Karin Fälth-Magnusson; Örjan Strannegård; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrik; allergologi; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Immune responses are often divided into T helper 1 (Th1), Th2 and Treg like immunity. Allergy is associated with Th2 like responses to allergens and possibly to reduced regulatory functions. LÄS MER
