21. Genetic design for facilitated production of human peptide hormones inEscherichia coli
Sammanfattning : Genetic strategies have become important in the design ofefficient processes for production of recombinant proteins. When constructing a production scheme, inherent properties, purity and quality requirements, as well as the final use ofthe protein, have to be considered. LÄS MER
22. Maternal and neonatal anthropometry and growth factor expression and apoptosis in human placenta : a comparison between two populations
Sammanfattning : The insulin-like growth factors (IGFs), IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), and IGFBP proteases, are key endocrine regulators of somatic growth and cellular proliferation. IGFs are involved in growth both pre- and postnatally. LÄS MER
23. Exposures in utero and chronic disease : an alternative methodological approach
Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were to evaluate maternal and birth characteristics as risk factors for breast cancer and cardiovascular disease later in life, and to assess maternal serum concentrations of insulin-like growth factors in pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia. Birth characteristics and risks of breast cancer were studied in a case-control study nested within the population-based Swedish Twin Register (Paper 1). LÄS MER
24. Acute myocardial infarction and glucose abnormalities : novel risk markers and characteristics
Sammanfattning : Background: There is a strong relationship between abnormal glucose tolerance (AGT) and the occurrence of an acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The identification of novel risk markers and pathophysiological disease characteristics may add important information to our understanding of the reasons for the disease pattern and thereby open the door to new therapeutic opportunities in this high-risk group of patients. 25. Osteoporosis, balance and nutrition in elderly women in primary care
Sammanfattning : Objective: Some people get skeletal fractures as a result of a trauma which wouldn’t cause a fracture in a healthy individual. These fractures are sometimes referred to as “fragility fractures”. Common sites for fragility fractures are the spine, hip, upper arm, shoulder, distal forearm and pelvis. LÄS MER
