26. Characterization and Functionalization of 2D Overlayers Adsorbed on Transition Metals
Sammanfattning : Two-dimensional layered materials, namely monolayer hexagonal boron nitride and graphene were grown by CVD on various transition metals. The physical and chemical properties of these systems were characterized systematically using synchrotron-based spectroscopic techniques, scanning tunneling microscopy and low energy electron diffraction. 27. Ab initio studies of advanced functional materials with complex magnetism
Sammanfattning : For centuries, magnetism of materials has been an inevitable part of human civilization. Only in the last century, the mysteries of magnetism started to unfold thanks to the development of quantum theory of solids. LÄS MER
28. Elastic and inelastic scattering effects in conductance measurements at the nanoscale : A theoretical treatise
Sammanfattning : Elastic and inelastic interactions are studied in tunnel junctions of a superconducting nanoelectromechanical setup and in response to resent experimental superconducting scanning tunneling microscope findings on a paramagnetic molecule. In addition, the electron density of molecular graphene is modeled by a scattering theory approach in very good agreement with experiment. LÄS MER
29. Magnetization dynamics of complex magnetic materials by atomistic spin dynamics simulations
Sammanfattning : In recent years, there has been an intense interest in understanding the microscopic mechanism of laser induced ultrafast magnetization dynamics in picosecond time scales. Magnetization switching on such a time scale has potential to be a significant boost for the data storage industry. LÄS MER
30. Adsorption and Ordering of Surface Active Molecules and Particles at Solid Interfaces and in the Bulk
Sammanfattning : Factors that influence the process of adsorption and order of dilute and concentrated systems of molecules and particles are explored in this thesis. The results are based largely on neutron scattering techniques. LÄS MER
