  1. 16. Intramembranous arrangement of phospholipids and dolichol in microsomal and model membranes

    Författare :Conny Valtersson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The transfer of phospholipids from the endoplasmic reticulum to the inner mitochondrial membrane was investigated by pulse labeling in vivo. With [3H]gIycerol microsomal phosphatidylethanoiamine and phosphatidylcholine were rapidly labeled during the first 30 min; while maximum incorporation into the inner mitochondrial membrane occured only after about 5 hours. 2. 17. Membrane morphology and homeostasis: An electron microscopy approach

    Författare :Dimitra Panagaki; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nuclear envelope bud; AdipoR2; membrane homeostasis;

    Sammanfattning : Biological membranes allow life as we know it to exist. Primarily assembled from lipids and proteins, their morphology and function can greatly vary between species or even within the same cell. They create physical boundaries, separating different cells from each other and forming functional compartments within the cells. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Role of inflammatory and mitochondria genes in adipose tissue and obesity

    Författare :Maria Kaaman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity is rapidly increasing in prevalence around the world together with its complications such as dyslipidemia, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and insulin resistance, which eventually may lead to type 2 diabetes (T2DM). The excess of adipose tissue, the hallmark of obesity, led us to study the adipose tissue as a contributor to obesity and insulin resistance. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Functional genomics studies of PINK1

    Författare :Camilla Scheele; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Functional genomics has become an important and established research discipline during the last 10 years, mainly as a consequence of the completion of large-scale genome sequencing projects. The human genome is now predicted to transcribe 20,000-25,000 protein coding genes, which is only a quarter of the number suggested a few years ago. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Molecular mechanisms of aging in MTDNA mutator mice

    Författare :Daniel Henry Sven Edgar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mitochondria are intensely studied in the field of aging. mtDNA mutator mice have a proofreading deficiency in the mitochondrial DNA polymerase POLG, which causes a large amount of point mutations to be accumulated in mitochondrial DNA. These mice have mitochondrial dysfunction and experience a range of premature aging phenotypes. LÄS MER
