1. Intestinal Gene Expression Profiling and Fatty Acid Responses to a High-fat Diet
Sammanfattning : The gastrointestinal tract (GIT) regulates nutrient uptake, secretes hormones and has a crucial gut flora and enteric nervous system. Of relevance for these functions are the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and the solute carriers (SLCs). LÄS MER
2. Multidimensional engineering for the production of fatty acid derivatives in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Sammanfattning : Saccharomyces cerevisiae , also known as budding yeast, has been important for human society since ancient time due to its use during bread making and beer brewing, but it has also made important contribution to scientific studies as model eukaryote. The ease of genetic modification and the robustness and tolerance towards harsh conditions have established yeast as one of the most popular chassis in industrial-scale production of various compounds. 3. Structural Studies of Echinococcus granulosus Fatty-acid-binding Protein 1 and Human Semicarbazide-sensitive Amine Oxidase
Sammanfattning : The parasite Echinococcus granulosus causes hydatid disease, a major zoonosis. A fatty-acid-binding protein, EgFABP1, is important for the parasite, as it must acquire almost all its lipids from its environment or the host. The structure of EgFABP1 has been solved and refined to 1.6 Å resolution. LÄS MER
4. Fatty acid transport proteins : candidate genes for the insulin resistance syndrome
Sammanfattning : The insulin resistance syndrome is characterised by insulin resistance, obesity, hypertension, and a typical dyslipidaemia, predisposing to diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Metabolic disturbances of the insulin resistance syndrome include dysregulation of fatty acid (FA) homeostasis, for which adipose tissue serves a critical function. LÄS MER
5. Influence of strain, feed profile and cultivation technique on the lipid structure and membrane function in Escherichia coli
Sammanfattning : The phospholipid and fatty acids content of the Escherichiacoli membrane were investigated during changes of feed rate, cultivation technique and host strains.During continuous cultivation it was shown that the leakageof periplasmic protein to the medium had an optimum at 0.3 h-1,resulting in transport of 20% of the total recombinant product.
