1. Controlling infiltration when brazing P/M parts and during manufacture of aluminium metal matrix composites
Sammanfattning : Infiltration is used in the production of several different material groups as electric contact materials, copper infiltrated sintered steels and metal matrix composites. The mechanism of infiltration causes also unwanted difficulties in processing as brazing of porous sintered compacts. LÄS MER
2. Structure and properties of advanced fine grained steels produced using novel thermal treatments
Sammanfattning : Fine grained advanced steels exhibit favourable mechanical properties for applications requiring high strength, ductility and impact toughness. These properties result from a microstructure containing a fine distribution of several phases including ferrite, austenite, martensite and bainite. LÄS MER
3. Increasing phase transformation rate in advanced high strength steel applications
Sammanfattning : The bainite transformation rate has been shown to increase by starting the heat treatment with partial martensite transformation after austenitization. Based on this fact, a process very similar to “Quenching and Partitioning” (Q&P) is used to produce a fine-grained complex microstructure of martensite, bainite and retained austenite with outstanding mechanical properties in a very short time. 4. On the role of microstructure in wear of nanostructured carbide-free bainitic steels
Sammanfattning : The significance of steel production for the development of sustainable society and economy is immense. Today’s fast growing global economy poses an increasing demand for improving the properties of steel. LÄS MER
5. Cracking during Continuous Casting of Steels : Analysis tools and procedures to identify their causes on microalloyed steel slabs
Sammanfattning : Transverse corner cracks are one of the most common but complex defects formed in microalloyed steels during continuous casting (CC). Such cracks are detrimental because it leads to a loss in productivity with a great impact on environment, energy and economics for several steel making companies all over the world. LÄS MER
