11. Design and Characterization of Functional Structures for Electromagnetic Waves
Sammanfattning : This dissertation deals with design and characterization of functional structures for scattering of electromagnetic waves. An abundance of these structures can be found in nature, such as the structural coloration in the feathers of a peacock, the scales of butterflies and the shell of scarab beetles. LÄS MER
12. Expression and regulation of CCL25 and its role in T cell localization to and function within the small intestine
Sammanfattning : Earlier studies have demonstrated an important role for the chemokine CCL25, and its receptor CCR9, in the generation of the small intestinal lymphocyte compartment. The work in this thesis was aimed at determining how CCL25 is regulated within the small intestinal mucosa, and what potential role it plays in T cell localization to and function within this site. 13. Fast Power Control to Counteract Rayleigh Fading in Cellular Radio Systems
Sammanfattning : In urban areas, cellular radio signals are subject to Rayleigh fading, which results in rapid changes in the channel gain. For TDMA-systems without the possibility of frequency hopping, this can cause severe problems for slowly moving cellular phones. LÄS MER
14. Fibromyalgia and chronic widespread pain. Dimensions of fatigue and effects of physiotherapy
Sammanfattning : Aims. Fatigue is a severe problem for patients with fibromyalgia (FM) and chronic widespread pain (CWP). LÄS MER
15. Alkylglycoside Surfactants - Self-Assembly, Solid-State Properties and Interactions with Hydrophobic Molecules
Sammanfattning : A thorough physical-chemical characterisation of alkylglycosides has been performed. The effects of temperature, salt, concentration and deuterium exchange on the self-aggregation of n-nonyl-b-D-glucoside (b-C9G1) and n-tetradecyl-b-D-maltoside (b-C14G2) have been studied in dilute solutions by static and dynamic light scattering, neutron scattering, rheology, capillary viscometry and tensiometry.
