11. Inhomogenity in microstructures
Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present thesis is to quantitativelycharacterise structural features which contribute to thematerial anisotropy and to relate developed parameters to thematerial properties. Various forms of structural inhomogeneitywere quantified with the help of comuterised image analysisusing quantitative metallography and statistical analysismethods. LÄS MER
12. Experimental and analytical study of thermal mixing at reactor conditions
Sammanfattning : High-cycle thermal fatigue due to turbulent mixing of streams at distinct temperatures is an interdisciplinary issue affecting safety and life extension of existing reactors together with the design of new reactors. It is challenging to model damage and thermal loads arising from the above mixing. LÄS MER
13. Control of weldability : Research leading to the development of two new quenched and tempered tool steels
Sammanfattning : The understanding of the hardenability is important in steel development with respect to weldability of steels as well as to the design of quenched and tempered steels. The common way to judge if steel is suitability to welding is the use of a carbon equivalent, which reflects the alloy content to the hardenability of the heat affected zone (HAZ). 14. The isostatic pressure processing of high Tc superconductors and their properties
Sammanfattning : The high Tc superconductors are highly anisotropic, ceramic materials which makes it difficult to sinter them at atmospheric pressure to full density. High porosity is detrimental to their mechanical and electrical properties, so the use of isostatic pressures was used to give higher density materials with improved properties. LÄS MER
15. Tar and Condensable Hydrocarbons in Indirect Gasification Systems
Sammanfattning : Biomass gasification, which is a primary process step in the production of biofuels, yields a combustible gas mixture (raw gas). This raw gas consists of a wide range of species, from permanent gases to condensable hydrocarbons, which are collectively known as tar. LÄS MER
