  1. 6. Dynamic aspects of nucleocytoplasmic trafficking

    Författare :Cecilia Rustum; Einar Hallberg; Urs Greber; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular structures and compartmentalization is the result of a dynamic steady state exchange between its components. This thesis is focused in investigations of dynamic properties of green fluorescent protein (GFP)-labeled proteins in live cells using confocal laser microscopy in combination with bleaching techniques such as fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) and fluorescence loss in photobleaching (FLIP). 2. 7. Molecular factors influencing nerve growth : studies on the developing rodent trigeminal ganglion and tooth pulp

    Författare :Christina Lillesaar; Ted Ebendal; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The adult tooth pulp has a rich protective sensory innervation from the trigeminal ganglion (TG). The developmental establishment of this exclusively nociceptive innervation is not fully understood today. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Cell cycle control in G1 : restriction points for growth factors and anchorage dependence

    Författare :Peter Zickert; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :cell cycle; cyclin E; growth control; growth factor; restriction point; ECM; anchorage;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The eukaryotic cell cycle consists of four well-defined phases. During the S phase DNA is replicated and during the M phase the chromosomes are segregated to daughter cells. The time gap between completion of M phase and entry into S phase is called G1. The time gap between S phase and mitosis is called G2. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Mammalian thioredoxin reductase 1 in antioxidant defense, regulation of adipocyte differentiation and as an anticancer drug target

    Författare :Xiaoxiao Peng; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are oxygen containing reactive molecules generated as by-products of cellular metabolism. At physiological concentrations, ROS acts as secondary messengers in cellular signaling transduction, but excessive amounts of ROS result in oxidative stress and cellular damage. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Regulation of IL-6-signaling and inflammatory response – Role of insulin, FOXO1 and PKCδ

    Författare :Emelie Wallerstedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 2-Diabetes; inflammation; obesity; IL-6; STAT3; PKCδ; FOXO1;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate if and how insulin antagonizes interleukin-6 (IL-6)-signaling and action using both 3T3-L1 mouse adipocytes (Paper I) and HepG2 human hepatocytes (Paper III). We also investigated the importance of PKCδ in 3T3-L1 adipocytes and mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) lacking protein kinase C-δ (PKCδ-/-) (Paper II). LÄS MER
