  1. 11. In vivo Sub-regional dGEMRIC Analysis and Contrast Distribution in Clinical Studies of Human Knee Cartilage

    Författare :Zana Hawezi; Enheten för led- och mjukvävnadsforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MRI; dGEMRIC; sub-regional; knee; cartilage; GAG; meniscus injury; osteoarthritis; exercise.;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: This work was carried out to investigate whether considering cartilage depth in vivo dGEMRIC would provide additional information on the molecular content and changes in normal and diseased cartilage. Methods: Study I was a longitudinal study on 23 healthy volunteers; Study II was a case-control study on 9 sedentary individuals and 8 elite runners. LÄS MER

    Författare :Mikko Lammi; Markku Tammi; Jukka Finne; Tim Hardingham; Finland Kuopio University of Kuopio Department of Anatomy; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Articular cartilage; proteoglycans; loading; stress; hydrostatic pressure; biokemi; Biochemistry; cell research; cellforskning; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; ortopedi; Orthopaedics;

    Sammanfattning : In this study, the biosynthesis of proteoglycans (PGs) was examined in articular cartilage of canine hip joint after long-distance running experiment and in bovine chondrocyte cultures during in vitro loading with hydrostatic pressure. In addition, new assays were developed for more sensitive quantitation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and PGs. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The main purposes of this thesis were to evaluate a high-intensity functional weight-bearing exercise programme, regarding its applicability (attendance, achieved intensity, adverse events) as well as its effect on physical functions and activities of daily living (ADL) among older people living in residential care facilities, with a special focus on people with dementia. Furthermore, a main purpose was to systematically review the applicability and effects of physical exercise on physical functions, cognitive functions, and ADL among people with dementia. LÄS MER
