  1. 1. Characterization of Epstein-Barr virus non-coding RNAs in infected cells

    Författare :Guojiang Xie; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; EBV; EBV-associated malignancies; viral gene expression pattern; RPMS1; EBERs; single-cell sequencing; ChIRP; immune evasion; protein synthesis;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) causes multiple types of lymphoid and epithelial malignancies. Unraveling the viral gene expression patterns in tumors and identifying interaction partners between EBV and host elements is crucial for understanding EBV tumorigenesis. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Comprehensive analysis of structural genomic alterations in cancer : Computational approaches for identifying cancer driver events

    Författare :Babak Alaei-Mahabadi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Somatic structural variations; viral integrations; gene fusions; somatic genomic alterations;

    Sammanfattning : The transformation of a normal cell into a cancer cell involves the accumulation of somatic DNA alterations that confer growth and survival advantages. These genomic alterations can be different in terms of pattern and size, comprising single nucleotide variants (SNVs), small insertions or deletions (indels), structural variations (SVs) or foreign DNA insertions such as viral DNA. 3. 3. Regulation of the Epstein-Barr Virus Latent Membrane Protein 1 Expression

    Författare :Pegah Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Gene regulation; LMP1; Epstein-Barr virus; Herpesvirus;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a probably the most effective and successful human virus, infecting more than 90% of the world?s adult population. As with the other members of the herpesvirus family, EBV establishes latent infection in its host and persists life-long. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Strategies of gene and immune therapy for tumors and viral diseases

    Författare :Herman José Arteaga; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Intracellular cytokines; DNA vaccine-GM-CSF; HIV- 1; RNA interference;

    Sammanfattning : In the treatment of tumors and viral diseases such as HIV-1 infection, immunotherapeutic strategies do not seem to have enough capacity to eradicate an already established disease. However, these strategies could play a unique role as adjuvant treatments of therapies that eliminate the main tumor or viral load in order to avoid the relapse of the disease. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Role of Polyadenylation in Human Papillomavirus Type 16 Late Gene Expression

    Författare :Daniel Öberg; Stefan Schwartz; Sheila Graham; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; HPV-16; polyadenylation; mRNA stability; codon usage; hnRNP H; DSE; splicing; negative element; RNA processing; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : High-risk type human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are associated with cancer. HPVs are strictly epitheliotropic and infect basal cell layers, establishing a life cycle strongly linked to the differentiation stage of the infected cells. The viral capsid late genes, L2 and L1, are only expressed in terminally differentiated epithelium. LÄS MER
