1. Ventricular repolarization in the human heart : effects of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
Sammanfattning : Ventricular arrhythmias is the main cause of sudden cardiac death. A prolonged repolarization might cause such arrhythmias, and an increased understanding about mechanisms is therefore important for their primary and secondary prevention. LÄS MER
2. T-vector and T-loop morphology analysis of ventricular repolarization in ischemic heart disease
Sammanfattning : Background: Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is responsible for about half of all cardiovascular deaths in the western world. Heterogeneous ventricular repolarization (VR) is a common denominator in the genesis of malignant ventricular arrhythmias responsible for SCD and the presence of coronary artery disease (CAD) is an aggravating factor. 3. Applications of Vectorcardiography for Diagnosis and Risk Stratification in Subpopulations at Risk for Life-Threatening Arrhythmias
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Vectorcardiography, or 3-dimensional electrocardiography is a tool which can be used to identify subtle changes in the electrical forces of the heart, and which can be applied to atrial depolarization, ventricular depolarization and ventricular repolarization for prognostic and diagostic purposes. Methods: Kor’s regression-related and quasi orthogonal methods was used to derive vectorcardiographic parameters from the 12-lead electrocardiogram and applied to a cohort of cryptogenic stroke patients to assess atrial fibrillation, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients to assess for ventricular arrhythmias, applied with right-precordial directed quasi orthogonal method to arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy (ARVC/D) patients for diagnosis, and applied to ventricular repolarization only to patients with genotype-positive/phenotype-negative Long QT2 syndrome (KNCH2 mutation) to assess for cardiac events. 4. Novel approaches using electrocardiographic imaging for early detection of ARVC in patients and relatives and symptoms preceding sudden death
Sammanfattning : Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is an inherited disease of the myocardium, predominantly affecting the right ventricle (RV). Arrhythmias are common among patients with the disease and Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) can occur even in early stages. LÄS MER
5. Cardiac memory studies in two human models
Sammanfattning : Background: Cardiac memory is a form of electrical remodeling of the ventricles, where the T vector follows ("remembers') a previously altered QRS vector. On the electrocardiogram (ECG), it presents as T-wave inversions. LÄS MER
