  1. 1. Laser-Induced Incandescence for Soot Diagnostics: Theoretical Investigation and Experimental Development

    Författare :Jonathan Johnsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; premixed flat flames; fractal soot aggregates; laser-induced incandescence; soot; soot optical properties; soot absorption function; laser diagnostics; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Johnsson;

    Sammanfattning : Laser-induced incandescence, LII, is a laser-diagnostic technique that can be used to measure the volume fraction and the sizes of soot particles suspended in a gas, such as within a combustion process or in its exhausts. The technique is based on the facts that the time-decay of the radiation from laser-heated soot particles is directly related to the particle size in the probed volume, and that the time-integrated radiation is related to the soot volume fraction. 2. 2. Environmental records of carbonaceous fly-ash particles from fossil-fuel combustion

    Författare :Maria Wik; Lars Ericson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbonaceous particles; soot; anthropogenic particles; oil and coal combustion; fossil fuel combustion; lake sediments; lake acidification; forest soils; historical monitoring;

    Sammanfattning : Fossil fuel combustion produces fly-ash particles that are released into the atmosphere and deposited in the environment. A particularly characteristic kind of fly-ash is spheroidal carbonaceous particles. They are composed of an amorphous carbon matrix in which other elements are dispersed. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On the Use of Laser-Induced Incandescence for Soot Diagnostics: From Theoretical Aspects to Applications in Engines

    Författare :Henrik Bladh; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser-Induced Incandescence; Laser Diagnostics; LII; Soot; Model; Engine; Particulates; Soot volume fraction; Combustion; Physics; Fysik; quantum mechanics; classical mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; statistical physics; gravitation; relativity; kvantmekanik; klassisk mekanik; termodynamik; statistisk fysik; relativitet; Gases; Gaser; fluid dynamics; plasmas; Teknik; Laserteknik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; fluiddynamik; plasma; Technological sciences; Laser technology;

    Sammanfattning : The laser-induced incandescence technique (LII) is a laser-based diagnostic technique for measurements of soot volume fraction and particle size. The technique relies on detection of incandescent light from soot particles heated to around 4000 K using nanosecond laser pulses. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Detailed Soot Modelling in Laminar and Turbulent Reacting Flows

    Författare :Michael Balthasar; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; soot; turbulent; flames; engines; turbines; carbon black; ionization; laminar; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Balthasar;

    Sammanfattning : In the present work a detailed kinetic soot model is applied to study the formation and oxidation of soot particles in laminar premixed and turbulent non-premixed flames. The soot model used in this study is based on a detailed description of the chemical and physical processes involved in the formation of soot. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Characterization of soot in air and rain over southern Asia

    Författare :Erik J. Engström; Caroline Leck; Henning Rodhe; Paolo Laj; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; soot; black carbon; atmospheric concentration; light absorption; wet deposition; scavenging; wash-out ratio; South-Asia.; Atmosphere and hydrosphere sciences; Atmosfärs- och hydrosfärsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Filter-based optical measurements of light absorbing particulate matter at awavelength of about 550 nm, here referred to as soot, in air and rainwaterhave been performed during the period from 1st June 2005 to 31th May 2009at Godavari in Nepal, Sinhagad in India and Hanimaadhoo in The Maldives.A method for determination of water-insoluble light absorbing matter inrainwater has been developed.
