  1. 1. Hydrophobic Interactions in Bioseparation - Applications of Modified Green Fluorescent Protein

    Författare :Kristian Becker; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :Hydrophobic interaction chromatography; capillary electrochromatography; E. coli; isolation tags; haemoglobin; green fluorescent protein; retention prediction; genetic engineering; accessible surface area;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes interactions that are salt-promoted and mainly based on the hydrophobicity of proteins. A series of variants of the green fluorescent protein (GFP) was first constructed by site-directed mutagenesis. Several tags with various properties were then genetically fused to the N-terminus of GFP. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Rational and combinatorial genetic engineering approaches for improved recombinant protein production and purification

    Författare :Nina Bandmann; Per-Åke Nygren; Helena Berglund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aqueous two-phase system; combinatorial library; expression vector; flow cytometry; fusion tag; partitioning; peptide library; phage display; recombinant proteins; ribosomal binding site; translation initiation; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli) is in many situations an ideal host for production of recombinant proteins, since it generally provides a rapid and economical means to achieve sufficiently high product quantities. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Core-box Modelling - Theoretical Contributions and Applications to Glucose Homeostasis Related Systems

    Författare :Gunnar Cedersund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The study of biological systems through a combination of in vitro characterisations, quantitative in vivo experiments, and mathematical modelling, is receiving an increasingly growing interest through the field system biology. Systems biology uses methods from many different research fields, but the existing methods need to be extended and adapted to fit the new situations. LÄS MER
