  1. 21. To grip and not to slip : sensorimotor mechanisms in reactive control of grasp stability

    Författare :Charlotte Häger Ross; Roland S. Johansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; human; hand; precision grip; grasp force; friction; cutaneous mechanoreceptors; sensorimotor integration; motor control;

    Sammanfattning : The reactive control of fingertip forces maintaining grasp stability was examined in man during a prehensile task. Blindfolded subjects used the precision grip between the tips of index finger and thumb to restrain an object that was subjected to unpredictable load forces. These were delivered tangential to the parallel grip surfaces of the object. LÄS MER

  3. 23. The neurotoxin β-N-methylamino-L-alanine (BMAA) and 2,4-diaminobutyric acid (DAB) : possible risk of human exposure, and the effect and function in diatoms

    Författare :Sea-Yong Kim; Sara Rydberg; Sandra Banack; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : The toxic secondary metabolites β-N-methylamino-L-alanine (BMAA) and 2,4-diaminobutyric acid (DAB) produced by phytoplankton groups such as cyanobacteria, diatoms and dinoflagellates are known to cause neurotoxicity in vertebrates. BMAA has been linked to development of the neurodegenerative diseases amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/Parkinsonism dementia complex (ALS/PDC) and Alzheimer's disease. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Human Pheromones : Psychological and Neurological Modulation of a Putative Human Pheromone

    Författare :Johan N. Lundström; Mats J. Olsson; Noam Sobel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Pheromones; Odor; Olfaction; Sensitivity; Psychophysiology; Attention; ERP; Mood; Androstadienone; Estratetraenol; Bimodal distribution; Speed of processing; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The notion that humans have specialized chemicals used for communication between conspecifics, so-called pheromones, has attracted much attention and discussion. This thesis demonstrates in four separate studies that a human endogenous steroidal compound that is abundant in male sweat, androstadienone, affects women in several ways that differ to that of common odors. 5. 25. Towards a human body model for prediction of vehicle occupant kinematics in omni-directional pre-crash events

    Författare :Emma Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pre-Crash Manoeuvres; Shoulder Muscle Control; Active Human Body Model;

    Sammanfattning : As the vehicle fleet becomes more equipped with crash avoidance systems, the proportion of crashes preceded by evasive manoeuvres is expected to increase. In an evasive manoeuvre, occupant position and posture can be influenced by the induced loading. Therefore, there is a need to predict the occupant response from evasive manoeuvres. LÄS MER
