1. To grip and not to slip : sensorimotor mechanisms in reactive control of grasp stability
Sammanfattning : The reactive control of fingertip forces maintaining grasp stability was examined in man during a prehensile task. Blindfolded subjects used the precision grip between the tips of index finger and thumb to restrain an object that was subjected to unpredictable load forces. These were delivered tangential to the parallel grip surfaces of the object. LÄS MER
2. On the Precision Grip in Manual Transport
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present study was to investigate the grip and load force relations in the precision grip (between thumb and index finger) in static and dynamic situations, and to develop automatic procedures for the analysis of position and force data from tests involving the precision grip. The goal of the work was to create physiologically based methods for identification and quantitative determination of disturbances in the nervous control of hand motor function. LÄS MER
3. A multidisciplinary system identification of the human precision grip
Sammanfattning : This thesis focus on the unique human ability to pick up and manipulate small objects using the precision grip, i.e., the fine grip between the index finger and the thumb. This ability is formed by the interplay between the complex biomechanical machinery of the hand and the neural networks within the central nervous system. LÄS MER
4. Event stratigraphy for the Last Glacial-Holocene transition in eastern middle Sweden
Sammanfattning : This thesis outlines an event stratigraphy for the Last Glacial-Holocene transition in eastern middle Sweden. Events are short-lived occurrences that have left traces in the geological record and which, therefore, may be used for correlation and inter-regional comparisons. LÄS MER
5. Tactile Sensory Control of Dexterous Manipulation in Humans
Sammanfattning : During dexterous manipulation with the fingertips, forces are applied to objects' surfaces. To achieve grasp stability, these forces must be appropriate given the properties of the objects and the skin of the fingertips, and the nature of the task. LÄS MER
