  1. 1. Early trauma/dysmorphogenesis and adult neurodysfunction in schizophrenia

    Författare :Baher Ismail; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Psychiatry; clinical psychology; klinisk psykologi; neurodevelopmental model; psychosomatics; Psykiatri; tardive dyskinesia; neurological abnormality; neurocognitive dysfunction; dermatoglyphics; head circumference; minor physical anomalies; Schizophrenia; obstetric complications; psykosomatik;

    Sammanfattning : To measure the importance of early neurodevelopmental disturbance for schizophrenia, early trauma and dysmorphogenesis (i.e. obstetric complications (OCs), minor physical anomalies (MPAs), head circumference (HC) and dermatoglyphic characteristics) were studied in relationship to adult neurodysfunction (i.e. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Morphometry of the Optic Nerve Head as a Diagnostic Tool for Glaucoma

    Författare :Camilla Sandberg Melin; Per Söderberg; Boel Bengtsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; optic nerve head; ONH; nerve fibers; glaucoma; optical coherence tomography; OCT; Pigment epithelium central limit-inner limit of the retina minimal distance; PIMD; PIMD-2π; Segmental PIMD-2π; confocal scanning laser tomography; HRT; NRA; variation; variability; variance; loss rate; follow-up.;

    Sammanfattning : Glaucoma is a chronic optic nerve head (ONH) disease. Gradual retinal ganglion cell and nerve fiber loss lead to morphological ONH change and visual field defects. Initial loss is often focal. Rate of progression and life expectancy guide treatment. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Aetiologies and Epidemiology of Subdural Haematoma in Infancy

    Författare :Jacob Andersson; Ingemar Thiblin; Håkan Sandler; Andreas Buettner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abusive Head Trauma; Shaken Baby Syndrome; Subdural Haematoma; External hydrocephalus; Rättsmedicin; Forensic Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : According to scientific studies, subdural haematoma (SDH) in combination with retinal haemorrhage and encephalopathy (usually denoted as the triad) during infancy is highly specific for abusive head trauma/shaken baby syndrome, if a fall from over one meter, a traffic accident and certain medical conditions have been excluded. Other studies have challenged this notion since there are witnessed falls from less than one meter which has caused acute SDH, birth-related SDH which have been confirmed to develop into chronic SDH, and external hydrocephalus that can be complicated by a spontaneous SDH or an SDH from minor trauma. 4. 4. Growth in Sweden : surveillance of growth patterns and epidemiological monitoring of secular changes in height and weight among children and adolescents

    Författare :Bo Werner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adolescents; birthweight; body mass index; children; epidemiological monitoring; final height; growth; head circumference; height; infants; length; longitudinal study; national study; overweight; obesity; Sweden; secular change; schoolchildren; time trend; weight; weight loss;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the growth patterns of infants, children and adolescents in all of Sweden and the secular change for height and weight for schoolchildren. This thesis is based on the study of two cohorts: First, schoolchildren born 1973 from age 7 y to 18 y, and second children born in 1981 from birth to age 19 y. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The role of eating disorders for pregnancy, neonatal outcome and the child’s early development

    Författare :Saloua Koubaa; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Little is known about the impact of eating disorders (ED) on pregnancy, infant growth and cognitive development. Preliminary reports indicate increased complications during pregnancy and lower birth weight in children of mothers with ED. LÄS MER
