1. Life in a World Heritage City : A case study of discussions and contested values in Angra do Heroísmo, the Azores
Sammanfattning : The objectives of this study are to critically map and analyse past and current discussions, negotiations and social processes that take place and relate to conditions created by living in- or monitoring the World Heritage City Angra do Heroísmo in the Azores, Portugal. Based on ethnographic fieldwork and qualitative interviews with the stakeholders in the city, the purpose has been to study how, and with what result and consequences, contested values, interests, rhetoric and powers are mobilized and made into dynamic forces for these stakeholders. Sammanfattning : This dissertation aims at showing that Chrétien de Troyes' Conte du Graal does not, as often affirmed, uphold traditional chivalrous values, but discloses a problematic ideology, mostly as a result of multiple interactions at the textual level. In order to examine ideology, Le Conte du Graal is analysed in the light of the poetics elaborated by Vincent Jouve in his Poétique des valeurs (2001). LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This exploratory compilation thesis of four sub studies in Social Work aims to qualitatively examine how employees are affected by organisational changes and other work-related processes, and also to increase understanding of the causes of sick leave and being on sick leave through analysing the experiences of people from different professional backgrounds. Against the background of the labour market and social policy changes introduced at the beginning of the 1990s, these are urgent issues to address, particularly since there is a lack of qualitative studies linking work environment to mental health and sick leave, from the perspective of the employee.
