  1. 1. Smells: olfactive dimension in designing textile architecture

    Författare :Jyoti Kapur; Clemens Thornquist; Delia Dumitrescu; Astrid Mody; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; smells; touch; movement; textiles; architecture; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Sammanfattning : Designing with non-visual attributes challenges ways of representation. This research explores methods for designing with invisible materiality within the research practice, as well as ways of representation through textiles when designing spaces. Exploring textiles and smells within a space, the research program investigates spatial interactions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Knitted architecture and wind: Designing loosely fitted architectural textiles for interaction with wind

    Författare :Erica Hörteborn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Textile architecture; Knitted textiles; Wind performance; Wind; Research by design; Kinetic architecture; Geometric expression; Wind simulation; Architectural design;

    Sammanfattning : Utilising the textile’s ability to adapt to external forces such as the wind could lead to the creation of new design expressions and functional features within architecture. Prompted by architectural potentials of textiles deliberately designed to move and flex, this thesis aims to explore and demonstrate how such knitted textiles could contribute to enriched aesthetic expression and improved performance of architectural elements placed in windy environments. 3. 3. Textile architecture informed by wind

    Författare :Erica Hörteborn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Textiles; Research by design; Textile architecture; Kinetic architecture; Lightweight structures; Wind; Geometric expression; Knitted textiles;

    Sammanfattning : Textiles in architecture is a field of great potential, which are worth to explore further. This thesis aims to show that the flexibility of the textile material could be better included in the architectural design, allowing it to adapt to forces, such as the wind, and viewing motion as a positive design feature. 4. 4. On the Textility of Smell in Spatial Design

    Författare :Jyoti Kapur; Jo-Anne Bichard; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Sammanfattning : The ocular-centric approach predominant in the field of design, particularly textile and spatial design, focuses on visual aesthetics and visually mediated interactions. Whereas the non-visual materialities of a space, such as smells, are ignored in the design process, meaning that interior spaces with homogenously odourless environments lack interactions with the olfactory. 5. 5. CONCRETE FORM[ing]WORK : Design, Fabrication, Simulation and Correlation of Parametrically Patterned Flexible Formwork and Concrete

    Författare :Annie Locke Scherer; Oliver Tessmann; Jonas Runberger; Remo Pedreschi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; concrete; flexible formwork; geometry; parametric patterning; craft; smocking; simulation; correlation; betong; flexibel formsättning; geometri; parametrisk mönsterkonstruktion; hantverk; smockning; simulering; korrelation; Architectural Technology; Arkitekturteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Concrete is one of the most commonly used construction materials, yet industrial fabrication continues to default to established standards of planar formwork and uniform cross-sections for the sake of simplicity and predictability. The research conducted within Concrete Form[ing]work explored alternative methods of producing concrete formwork with a simple, technical re-imagination of material: exchanging the familiar, i.
