1. Regioselective Heck Coupling Reactions : Focus on Green Chemistry
Sammanfattning : Carbon-carbon bond formation reactions are among the most important processes in chemistry, as they represent key steps in the synthesis of more complex molecules from simple precursors. This thesis describes mainly the development of novel regioselective applications of the mild and versatile palladium-catalyzed carbon-carbon coupling method, commonly known as the Heck reaction. 2. Heterometallic Oxo-Alkoxides of Europium, Titanium and Potassium
Sammanfattning : Coordination compounds of europium and titanium with oxide, ethoxide (OCH2CH3), iso-propoxide (OCH(CH3)2) and tert-butoxide (OC(CH3)3) ligands have been studied. These belong to the general class of oxo-alkoxides, MxOy(OR)z, with alkoxide ligands (OR) containing an organic, aliphatic part R. LÄS MER
3. Low-coordinate Organosilicon Chemistry : Fundamentals, Excursions Outside the Field, and Potential Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis reports on unsaturated silicon compounds, as well as excursions from these into germanium chemistry, single molecule electronics, and silyl protective group chemistry. Both experimental and computational investigations were performed. LÄS MER
4. Metal-exchanged zeolites for NH3-SCR applications - Activity and Deactivation studies
Sammanfattning : Emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOX) formed during the burning process in internal combustion engines is a major contributor to global air pollutions. One effective way to reduce NOX in lean environments, i.e. oxygen excess is selective catalytic reduction with ammonia (NH3-SCR). LÄS MER
5. Alkali Induced High Temperature Corrosion of Stainless Steel - Experiences from Laboratory and Field
Sammanfattning : The high temperature corrosion of steam superheaters is a major obstacle that has to be overcome in order to increase the electricity generating efficiency of power boilers burning biomass or waste. This thesis addresses this issue by a combination of well-controlled model experiments in the laboratory and short and long term field exposures using cooled probes in full-scale biomass and waste fired boilers.
