Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the structural and electronic properties of graphene, polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) molecules, and other carbon-based materials, when interacting with metallic surfaces, as well as under the influence of different types of perturbations. 3. First Principles Studies on Chemical and Electronic Structures of Adsorbates
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we focus on theoretical study of adsorbates on metal and oxide surfaces that are important for surface chemistry and catalysis. 4. X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy on Nano-Magnet Arrays and Thin Films : Magnetism and Structure
Sammanfattning : The magnetic and structural properties of nano magnet arrays and ferromagnetic thin films are investigated. Circular x-rays are used and extensive use is made in this Thesis of the X-ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism (XMCD) technique.
