16. Muscarinic acetylcholine receptors : investigation of interactions with agonists and antagonists
Sammanfattning : In the present investigation interactions of agonists and antagonists with the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor from rat cerebral cortex and rat ileum smooth muscle have been characterized. It is suggested that the binding of antagonist involves two sequential equilibria, an association reaction followed by isomerization of the receptor-antagonist complex. 17. Metabolomic features and viral infections in paediatric inflammatory bowel disease
Sammanfattning : Background: Up to 25% of patients with inflammatory bowel disease have a paediatric onset (PIBD). The pathophysiological processes underlying PIBD are complex and largely unknown. Aims: To investigate a hypothesized role for human enterovirus B (HEV-B) in Crohn’s disease (CD) (I). LÄS MER
18. Bile Acid Induced Diarrhoea Pathophysiological and Clinical Aspects
Sammanfattning : A common cause for referral to gastroenterologists is chronic watery diarrhoea. Approximately 40% of these patients have idiopathic bile acid malabsorption (BAM) ? a condition with unknown aetiology. The 75SeHCAT test, which correlates inversely with faecal excretion and hepatic synthesis of bile acids, is used to diagnose BAM. LÄS MER
19. Upper gastrointestinal motility, gut hormones and food intake : a study in normal weight and obese humans
Sammanfattning : The regulation of food intake in man is complex and poorly understood. The main aim of the present study was to investigate how a rapid stimulation of the distal small bowel with nutrients influences upper gastrointestinal motility, some gut peptides and food intake in man. LÄS MER
20. lnvestigating intestinal smooth muscle dysfunction in the 6-OHDA rat model of Parkinson's disease
Sammanfattning : The neurodegenerative progression of the nigrostriatal pathway in Parkinson’s disease (PD) entails the appearance of motor and nonmotor symptoms. Nonmotor symptoms are common, having a negative impact on the quality of life of patients living with PD. LÄS MER
