  1. 6. Functional genomics approaches to dissect causal DNA variations in obesity and type 2 diabetes

    Författare :Mi Huang; Genetisk och molekylär epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; GWAS; Obesity; Type 2 diabetes; CRISPR Cas9; precision medicine; adipocytes; functional genomics;

    Sammanfattning : GWAS studies have identified hundreds of loci that associate with obesity and type 2 diabetes. However, the functional relevance of the genetic variants, and their impact on disease or traits, is largely unknown. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Novel properties of mature adipocytes in obesity and hyperinsulinemia

    Författare :Qian Li; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Adipose tissue expansion and dysfunction, which leads to obesity and related metabolic diseases (e.g., diabetes and hypertension) are currently the most costly challenges for public health, yet the mechanisms underlying adipocyte functional dysregulation have not been fully elucidated . 3. 8. Studies of LXR and CIDEA function in human adipocytes

    Författare :Britta Stenson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity, defined as a body mass index of 30 or above, is the result of an imbalance of energy intake and energy expenditure. In the last decade, the obesity prevalence has truly reached epidemic proportions with major effects on public health. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Inflammation and impaired adipogenesis in human white adipose tissue

    Författare :Juan Ramón Acosta; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to study inflammation and adipogenesis capacity in human subcutaneous white adipose tissue with respect to the development of obesity and associated comorbidities, including insulin resistance. Study I showed that the transcription factor, MAFB, was associated with increased adiposity and involved in regulation of TNFα-mediated inflammatory response, yet did not seem to directly influence adipogenesis or metabolism in human adipocytes. 5. 10. Novel aspects of metabolic regulation and inflammation in human adipocytes

    Författare :Annie Pettersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The significance of adipose tissue and obesity has been recognized in numerous pathologies. However, the mechanisms behind this connection are not yet completely understood. LÄS MER
