  1. 1. Urban Sound Planning - An attempt to bridge the gap

    Författare :Laura Estévez Mauriz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; prediction methods; road traffic noise; traffic dynamics; Urban sound planning; quiet side; urban systems; citizen participation; urban strategies;

    Sammanfattning : Cities are constantly between transition and adaptation, where current urban development needs a consistent strategic solution capable of understanding and including the relationships between urban form, environment and urban life. Awareness of the quality of the urban environment is leading the vision on the resilience and sustainability of the built environment, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary urban framework. 2. 2. The urban form and the sound environment - Tools and approaches

    Författare :Laura Estévez Mauriz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; road traffic noise; prediction; Urban sound planning; modelling; quiet side; urban systems; traffic dynamics;

    Sammanfattning : Cities are always confronted with transition and adaptation. Awareness on urban environmental quality is leading the vision about the built environment’s resilience and sustainability, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary framework for urbanisation processes. 3. 3. Numerical modelling of sound propagation to closed urban courtyards

    Författare :Maarten Hornikx; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; courtyard; urban noise abatement schemes; pseudospectral; road traffic noise; equivalent sources method; scale model study; urban canyon;

    Sammanfattning : Because modern urban environments suffer from excessive levels of road traffic noise, access to closed courtyards is essential in order to offer urban sound environments of high quality with regard to health and perceived sound. To reach this quality, which is described by the quiet side definition, the 24-hour equivalent noise level should be below 45 dB(A). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Explosions in urban environments: Modelling of gas explosions and risk of premature shear failure in reinforced concrete structures

    Författare :Fabio José Lozano Mendoza; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blast strength; urban road environments; computational fluid dynamics; blast loading; Vapour cloud explosions; factorial design; premature shear failure; Monte Carlo method; model uncertainty;

    Sammanfattning : The risk for accidental gas explosions in urban environments has increased in Sweden in recent years. This is due to densification of existing urban centres and the rise of vehicles powered by alternative fuels. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Colloidal Organic Pollutants in Road Runoff: Sources, Emissions and Effective Treatment Technologies

    Författare :Anna Markiewicz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organic pollutants; nanoparticles; stormwater; sorption filters; road dust; emulsions; washwater; vehicle wash; road runoff; microparticles; sweepsand; colloids; street sweeping;

    Sammanfattning : Thousands of organic substances circulate in our society and are diffusely emitted through traffic, combustion and leaching from constructions and building materials into the urban environment. The research in this PhD thesis focuses on road runoff as the highest concentrations of pollutants are frequently found in runoff from areas with high traffic intensity. LÄS MER
