16. Transport of Heavy Metals in Soil Subjected to an Electric Field -A Study of the Transport of Copper in Bentonite Clay
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis addressesphosphorus release from sewage sludge, which is the first stepin phosphorus recovery. The concept ofphosphorus recovery maybe seen as a part of sustainable sludge handling in that it isa means of recycling resources without supplying harmfulsubstances to humans or the environment. 17. An Assessment of the Potential for Bio-based Land Uses on Urban Brownfields
Sammanfattning : Circular Economy (CE) is expected to accelerate the emerging shift in resource consumption from finite to renewable, and plants are key in enabling the switch as industries would opt more and more for resources with a bio-based origin. Cities have an important role in the process not only as the main consumers of the resources but also because vegetation provides numerous tangible and intangible ecosystem services essential for the wellbeing of urban dwellers. 18. Immersed flat-sheet membrane bioreactors for lignocellulosic bioethanol production
Sammanfattning : The rising awareness of the environmental, economic and socio-political impacts of over-exploitation of fossil-based fuel and energy sources, have motivated the transition toward more sustainable and renewable energy sources. Lignocellulosic materials (e.g. LÄS MER
19. Crystalline Porous Materials Inspired by Metallodrugs
Sammanfattning : Inspiration for developing robust porous materials from sustainable reagents was acquired by determining the crystal structures of bismuth subsalicylate and bibrocathol, two long-used and commonly available bismuth-based pharmaceuticals. From these insights, a number of coordination polymers and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were developed, facilitating the synthesis of robust porous materials from sustainably sourced reagents. 20. Preventing Acid Rock Drainage Formation from Sulfidic Waste Rock Using Secondary Raw Materials
Sammanfattning : One of the central and most challenging environmental problems related to mining is acid rock drainage (ARD) formation. The drainage is characterized by low pH and elevated concentrations of sulfate, metals, and metalloids formed when sulfide-bearing minerals are subjected to oxygen and water. LÄS MER
