1. Mechanisms of Metal Dusting
Sammanfattning : The primary intention with this Doctoral thesis is to fillin the knowledge gaps and raise the level of understandingregarding the different metal dusting mechanisms in general andexplain the process in detail for high alloyed materials.Considerable effort is put into identifying the driving forcesand elucidating the diffusional processes in metal dusting. 2. The Influence of Composition and Hot Processes on Heat Affected Zone and Weld Metal Behavior and Mechnacal Properties of Ti Grade 5 and Stainless Steel
Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses on results of experiments carried outwith austenitic, duplex and super duplex stainless steels andTi-6Al-4V. In these it has been seen that the heat cycle duringwelding or weld simulation has a great effect on the propertiesof thematerials. LÄS MER
3. Corrosion testing of heat exchanger tubing
Sammanfattning : Heat exchanger tubes are commonly made from stainless steel. In a heat exchanger both the process fluid and the cooling orheating media can be corrosive. It is therefore important to beable to select materials that do not suffer from corrosion.Current methods in this area, however, suffer from limitationsand shortcomings. LÄS MER
4. Inhomogenity in microstructures
Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present thesis is to quantitativelycharacterise structural features which contribute to thematerial anisotropy and to relate developed parameters to thematerial properties. Various forms of structural inhomogeneitywere quantified with the help of comuterised image analysisusing quantitative metallography and statistical analysismethods. LÄS MER
5. Phase separation in duplex stainless steel: characterization and mitigation
Sammanfattning : Duplex stainless steel (DSS) is a category of widely used stainlesssteel, which are strategically important in a variety of applications such asin the food industry, chemical engineering plants and nuclear power plants, due to their attractive combination of mechanical properties and corrosionresistance. However, these steel grades are sensitive to the so-called ‘475°Cembrittlement’, because of a phase separation (PS) phenomenon in theferrite phase, which decomposes into Fe-rich ferrite (α) and Cr-rich ferrite(α'), when exposed to temperatures within the miscibility gap.
