16. Evolutionary Humanoids for Embodied Artificial Intelligence
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis aims at investigating the potential of a proposed methodology to create a cognitive control architecture for a humanoid robot. This architecture comprises three hierarchical layers: the reactive layer, the model building layer, and the reasoning layer. LÄS MER
17. Learning and Optimizing Camera Pose
Sammanfattning : Plenty of computer vision applications involve assessing the position and orientation, i.e. the pose , of one or several cameras, including object pose estimation, visual localization, and structure-from-motion. LÄS MER
18. Children with congenital unilateral sensorineural hearing loss : etiology, newborn diagnostics, and hearing aid amplification
Sammanfattning : Congenital unilateral sensorineural hearing loss (uSNHL) comprises about 25% of the sensorineural hearing losses (SNHLs) found through newborn hearing screening (NHS) programs. Even if children with congenital uSNHL struggle in school and everyday listening situations, studies on etiology, hearing aid (HA) outcomes and intervention are few, so it is still unknown when and how intervention is optimally provided. 19. Subband Beamforming for Speech Enhancement in Hands-Free Communication
Sammanfattning : Speech enhancement by means of microphone array signal processing has a major role in voice communication applications such as audio-conferencing, hands-free telephony, voice recognition and hearing aids. In these communication scenarios, the speaker is positioned at a remote distance from the microphones, which causes problems of environment noise and interfering sound corrupting the received speech. 20. Bilateral cochlear implants in children : clinical and methodological studies
Sammanfattning : A cochlear implant (CI) restores functional hearing in individuals with bilateral severe- to-profound sensorineural hearing loss. Despite hearing loss in both ears, CIs are usually provided unilaterally, excluding the alleged benefits associated with bilateral auditory stimulation. LÄS MER
