  1. 6. Water, Heat and Solute processes in Seasonally frozen Soils : Experimental and Modeling Study

    Författare :Mousong Wu; Per-Erik Jansson; Jiesheng Huang; Klas Hansson; David Gustafsson; Nicholas Jarvis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; frozen soil; water-heat-solute transport; coupled effects; water and energy balance; uncertainties; 冻土;水热盐运移;耦合关系;水热平衡;不确定性; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Soil freezing and thawing is of importance in transport of water, heat and solute, which has coupled effects. Solute type and solute content in frozen soil could influence the osmotic potential of frozen soil and decrease freezing point, resulting in differences in soil freezing characteristic curves under various solute conditions. 2. 7. Influence of Water on Coarse Granular Road Material Properties

    Författare :Jonas Ekblad; Ulf Isacsson; Hervé Di Benedetto; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Highway Engineering; Granulat materials; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Even though the practical experience of using coarse unbound granular materials is extensive, detailed knowledge on the mechanical and hydraulic behavior is to a large extent lacking. Regarding influence of water on mechanical properties, this is even more pronounced. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Modeling long-term variability and change of soil moisture and groundwater level - from catchment to global scale

    Författare :Lucile Verrot; Georgia Destouni; Aldo Fiori; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrology; physically-based model; groundwater; soil moisture; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The water stored in and flowing through the subsurface is fundamental for sustaining human activities and needs, feeding water and its constituents to surface water bodies and supporting the functioning of their ecosystems. Quantifying the changes that affect the subsurface water is crucial for our understanding of its dynamics and changes driven by climate change and other changes in the landscape, such as in land-use and water-use. 4. 9. Importance of winter climate and soil frost for dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in boreal forest soils and streams : - implications for a changing climate

    Författare :Mahsa Haei; Hjalmar Laudon; Peter M. Groffman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) is a defining feature of surface waters in a large part of the world and it influences a variety of physical, chemical and biological processes in aquatic ecosystems. Riparian soils exert a major control on stream water chemistry in many northern latitude regions and provide a local source of DOC to adjacent streams. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Artificial Ground Freezingin Clayey Soils : Laboratory and Field Studies of Deformations During Thawing at the Bothnia Line

    Författare :Teddy Johansson; Staffan Hintze; Håkan Stille; Sven Knutsson; Kauko Kujala; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Artificial ground freezing; AGF; thaw deformation; deformation; thawing; frost heaving; Bothnia Line.; Artificiell markfrysning; artificiell jord- och bergfrysning; AGF; tiningsdeformation; deformation; tining; tjälhävning; Botniabanan; Geoengineering; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Artificial ground freezing as a method to temporarily stabilize and create hydraulic sealing in urban as well as in rural areas has been used in a number of Swedish construction projects, particularly during the last decade. One problem with the freezing of soil and rock is that fine-grained clayey types of soils have showed a tendency to under certain circumstances, during the thawing process, create a pore water overpressure and to consolidate, despite a change in the external loading conditions.
