  1. 1. Aspects of post-resuscitation care after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest

    Författare :Louise Martinell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; out-of-hospital cardiac arrest; survival; Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator; Prediction of prognosis; mild induced hypothermia;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Cardiac disease is the most common cause of death in the western world and the majority of these deaths are due to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). In Sweden, approximately 10,000 persons suffer an OHCA annually and in 5000 cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is initiated. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cerebral Protection in Experimental Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation : With Special Reference to the Effects of Methylene Blue

    Författare :Adriana Miclescu; Lars Wiklund; Samar Basu; Jo Kramer-Johansen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac arrest; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; reperfusion injury; methylene blue; nitric oxide; nitric oxide synthases; blood-brain barrier; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Although survival rates are increasing, brain injury continues to be a leading cause of death after cardiac arrest (CA). Permanent brain damage after CA is determined by limited tolerance to ischemia from CA and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as well as the unique cerebral response to reperfusion after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). 3. 3. Cardiac arrest – prognostic biomarkers and aspects of shock

    Författare :Martin Annborn; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac arrest; shock; outcome; prognostication; post cardiac arrest syndrome; hypothermia;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Some improvement has been seen in survival after cardiac arrest but the outcome is still poor and 50-70% of patients do not survive despite successful return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). The cause of death is multifactorial. The majority of patients die from brain injury, but up to 35% die as a result of circulatory failure. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Carbon dioxide, oxygen, and serum biomarkers after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest

    Författare :Florian Ebner; Helsingborg Kliniska Vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Carbon dioxide; oxygen; serum biomarkers; out-of-hospital cardiac arrest;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiac arrest is the aprupt loss of cardiac function and circulation, follwed by the loss of consciousness and breathing. Most patients succumb before admission to hospital and survivors frequently suffer from anoxic-ischemic brain injury. The number of patients who survive with good neurological outcome, is low. 5. 5. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for the treatment of cardiogenic shock : identification of pre-implant outcome predictors

    Författare :Thomas Fux; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Refractory cardiogenic shock (RCS), cardiac arrest (CA) and postarrest cardiogenic shock (CS) are associated with high mortality. Venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) is increasingly used and can offer acute cardiopulmonary life support in this critically ill population but selection of VA-ECMO candidates remains challenging.
