7. Thermal System Analysis : heat transfer in glass forming and fluid temperature-control systems
Sammanfattning : Thermal system analyses are often required, and conducted, in engineering problems in almost all engineering disciplines. The methods employed vary a great deal and must be specially adapted for each situation. Basically, two different methods are used, namely distributed modelling and lumped parameter modelling. 8. Applications of chemometrics in the analysis and characterization of lipids
Sammanfattning : The main topics of this thesis are the analysis and characterizationof lipids and applications of chemometrics in this field. The techniques of experimental design, polynomial model building, response surface methods, principal components analysis and partialleast squares regression have been explored and utilized in thedeveopment and optimization of analytical methods. 9. Late Quaternary Biostratigraphy of Sediments of the Southeastern Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents Late Quaternary biostratigraphy in the SE Baltic Sea, based on palynological data from fifteen sediment cores. An objective subdivision of the cores has been achieved by numerical zonation. Ordination has revealed a succession of pollen spectra that can be used for biostratigraphic correlation across the region. LÄS MER
10. Applications of common principal components in multivariate and high-dimensional analysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers, all exploring some aspect of common principal component analysis (CPCA), the generalization of PCA to multiple groups. The basic assumption of the CPC model is that the space spanned by the eigenvectors is identical across several groups, whereas eigenvalues associated with the eigenvectors can vary. LÄS MER
