1. Cytomegalovirus Infection in Immunocompetent and Renal Transplant Patients : Clinical Aspects and T-cell Specific Immunity
Sammanfattning : Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a β-herpesvirus that, after primary infection, establishes a life-long persistence in the human host. Up to 90% of humans are infected with CMV, that is kept under control by CMV-specific CD8+ and CD4+ T cells. In patients with an impaired cellular immunity, however, CMV infections can be life-threatening. LÄS MER
2. On the Growth and Properties of InAs/Ga1-xInxSb Superlattices and Related Materials
Sammanfattning : InAs/Ga1-xInxSb semiconductor superlattices and their constituent materials have been studied theoretically, grown by molecular-beam epitaxy and characterised by various techniques. InAs/Ga1-xInxSb superlattices are interesting for use in far-infrared detectors because of their narrow band gaps. LÄS MER
3. Metastable ScAlN and YAlN Thin Films Grown by Reactive Magnetron Sputter Epitaxy
Sammanfattning : Metastable ScxAl1-xN and YxAl1-xN thin films were deposited in an ultra high vacuum system using reactive magnetron sputter epitaxy from elemental Al, Sc, and Y targets in Ar/N2 gas mixture. Their structural, electrical, optical, mechanical, and piezoelectrical properties were investigated by using the transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, spectroscopic ellipsometry, I-V and C-V measurements, nanoindentation, and two different techniques for piezoelectric characterization: piezoresponse force microscopy and double beam interferometry. 4. HLA polymorphism : genomic typing and impact on unrelated stem cell transplantation
Sammanfattning : The HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) region is the most polymorphic in the human genome. The extended polymorphism contributes to the ability both of individuals and populations to combat diversity in the pathogens to which they are exposed. LÄS MER
5. Development of an analytic Beam Model with non-linear Space-Charge Forces and Envelope Stability Studies
Sammanfattning : Space-charge—the repelling force of same-charged particles—is a major challenge in the development and application of high-current linear accelerators like spallation sources or accumulator rings. Understanding the dynamical behavior of the beam in its presence is imperative to prevent beam loss and subsequent detrimental effects. LÄS MER
