  1. 31. Biomass to Biofuel : Syngas Cleaning and Biomass Feedstock

    Författare :Ramiar Sadegh-Vaziri; Matthäus Bäbler; Per Alvfors; Lilian de Martin; Longcheng Liu; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gas-Solid Reaction; ZnO Sul_dation; Outward Growth; Hollow Particles; Algae Flocculation; PBEs; Fractal Clusters; Restructuring of Clusters; Deposition of Clusters; Primary Particle Aggregation.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis builds around the idea of a biofuel production process that is comprised of biomass production, biomass gasification, gas cleaning, and fuel production. In this work, we specifically looked into H2S removal as a part of cleaning the producer gas and flocculation of microalgae which is involved in the harvesting of microalgae after biomass production. 3. 33. Algal-Bacterial Photobioreactors for the Degradation of Toxic Organic Pollutants

    Författare :Raul Munoz; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; symbiosis.; nutrient removal; heavy metals removal; Algal-bacterial systems photobioreactors; toxic organic pollutants;

    Sammanfattning : The aerobic biodegradation of toxic organic volatile contaminants is always limited by the low aqueous solubility of O2. Therefore, intensive bubbling or surface aeration is required to supply the bacterial community with sufficient O2 to carry out pollutant mineralization. This can cause the hazardous volatilization of toxic volatile contaminants. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Dynamics of astaxanthin, tocopherol (Vitamin E) and thiamine (Vitamin B1) in the Baltic Sea ecosystem : Bottom-up effects in an aquatic food web

    Författare :Norbert Häubner; Pauli Snoeijs; Jon Ågren; Rhena Schumann; Markku Viitasalo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Baltic Sea; carotenoids; astaxanthin; tocopherols; Vitamin E; thiamine; Vitamin B1; pelagic food web; eutrophication; M74; phytoplankton; zooplankton; sprat; Sprattus sprattus balticus; herring; Clupea harengus; salmon; Salmo salar; cod; Gadus morhua; High Performance Liquid Chromatography HPLC ; electrochemical detection ECD ;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis combines laboratory experiments and field expeditions to study production, transfer and consumption of non-enzymatic antioxidants and thiamine in an aquatic food web. In particular, I (1) documented spatial and seasonal variation of tocopherols and carotenoids in the Baltic Sea pelagic food web, and (2) examined the effects of abiotic and biotic factors on tocopherol, carotenoid and thiamine concentrations in phytoplankton, zooplankton and fish. 5. 35. Genetic structuring in natural populations - the influence of life history strategies and asymmetric migration

    Författare :Lisa Sundqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Population genetics; Asymmetric migration; Genetic differentiation; Resting stages; Gene flow; Phytoplankton; Macroalgae;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I investigate aspects of genetic differentiation and factors influencing the structure of populations. This is done with a special focus on life histories and dispersal strategies common in the marine environment. LÄS MER
