18. Membrane mechanisms during exo- and endocytosis in excitable cells
Sammanfattning : Excitable cells, like endocrine cells and neurons release hormones and transmitters through exocytosis to mediate many important functions, such as stress responses, immune responses, control of blood glucose, and synaptic transmission that mediates communication between neurons in the brain. This process relies on delicate endocytic mechanisms, to retrieve vesicular membranes and proteins previously fused at the plasma membrane and thus maintains the ability of exocytosis for excitable cells. 19. The role of the G protein-coupled receptor ChemR23 in cardiovascular inflammation
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular inflammation is a biological process characterized by the immune cell response to harmful stimuli within the cardiovascular system, wherein homeostasis is reestablished by neutralizing the insult and promoting the repair of the damaged tissue. However, a failure in the resolution of inflammation can lead to a maladaptive inflammatory response, contributing to the development of cardiovascular diseases such as aortic valve stenosis (AVS) and atherosclerosis, as well as vascular complications such as intimal hyperplasia.
