    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes studies of prevention of mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of HIV-1 in breast-feeding populations in sub-Saharan Africa by perinatal and postnatal prophylactic antiretroviral therapy (ART) of mothers and infants.
