  1. 6. Analysis methodology for RBMK-1500 core safety and investigations on corium coolabiblty during a LWR sever accidnet

    Författare :Audrius Jasiulevicius; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :RBMK. Light water reactor. Core analysis; transient analysis; reactor dynamics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the work involving two broad aspectswithin the field of nuclear reactor analysis and safety. Theseare: - development of a fully independent reactor dynamics andsafety analysis methodology of the RBMK-1500 core transientaccidents and - experiments on the enhancement of coolabilityof a particulate bed or a melt pool due to heat removal throughthe control rod guide tubes. 2. 7. Development of fine-mesh methodologies for coupled calculations in Light Water Reactors

    Författare :Klas Jareteg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; Coupled neutronics thermal-hydraulics; nuclear reactor multiphysics; multiphase flow;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents fine-mesh multiphysics methodologies and algorithms for numerical predictions of the behavior of Light Water Reactor (LWR) cores. The multiphysics aspects cover the distribution of neutrons, the fluid flow of the coolant and the conjugate heat transfer between the solid fuel pins and the fluid coolant. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Accelerator-driven systems : safety and kinetics

    Författare :Marcus Eriksson; Janne Wallenius; Hamid Aït Abderrrahim; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The accelerator-driven system (ADS) is recognized as a promising system for the purpose of nuclear waste transmutation and minimization of spent fuel radiotoxicity. The primary cause for this derives from its accelerator-driven, sub-critical operating state, which introduces beneficial safety-related features allowing for application of cores employing fuel systems containing pure transuranics or minor actinides, thereby offering increased incineration rate of waste products and minimal deployment of advanced (and expensive) partitioning and transmutation technologies. 4. 9. Modeling and analysis of heat and mass transfer processes during in-vessel melt progression stage of light water reactor (LWR) severe accidents

    Författare :Robert R. Nourgaliev; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The last two decades of nuclear industry are marked byconsiderable attention tonuclear power plant accidents with core meltdown, knownalsoas severe accidents(SA). Two wellknown severeaccidents, TMI (USA, 1979) and Chernobyl (USSR, 1986), igniteda new wave of publit cancern about safety of existing nuclearpower plants. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Development of Risk Oriented Accident Analysis Methodology for Assessment of Effectiveness of Severe Accident Management Strategy in Nordic BWR

    Författare :Sergey Galushin; Pavel Kudinov; Harri Tuomisto; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Severe accident management; sensitivity; uncertainty; MELCOR; ROAAM; Svår haverihantering; känslighet och osäkerhetsanalys; MELCOR; ROAAM; Fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Nordic Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) design employs ex-vessel debris coolability as a severe accident management strategy (SAM). In case of a severe accident, the debris ejected from the vessel are expected to fragment, quench and form a debris bed, which is coolable by a natural circulation of water. LÄS MER
