21. Surface analysis of low dimensional materials : revealing their electronic properties by advanced spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Low-dimensional materials (0D, 1D, 2D) have been widely used to develop modern miniaturized (micro- and nano-) technology. The use of these materials come from their extraordinary optical, electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties, which are very different from the bulk crystal. LÄS MER
22. Exploring the Surface of Aqueous Solutions : X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies using a liquid micro-jet
Sammanfattning : The surface behavior of biologically or atmospherically relevant chemical compounds in aqueous solution has been studied using surface-sensitive X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The aim is to provide information on the molecular-scale composition and distribution of solutes in the surface region of aqueous solutions. LÄS MER
23. Near-Field Radiative Heat Transfer between Plasmonic Nanostructures
Sammanfattning : Radiative heat transfer (RHT) due to coupled electromagnetic near field scan significantly exceed that dictated by Planck’s law. Understanding such phenomenon is not only of fundamental scientific interest, but also relevant to a broad range of applications especially connected to nanotechnologies. LÄS MER
24. UHV-CVD growth of Ge/Si nanostructures
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on the results concerning the epitaxial growth and characterization of silicon (Si) and germanium (Ge) nanostructures. The growth technique was the Ultra High Vacuum Chemical Vapor Deposition (UHV-CVD) that works in relatively low temperatures and low growth pressures. LÄS MER
25. Solar Wind Proton Interactions with Lunar Magnetic Anomalies and Regolith
Sammanfattning : The lunar space environment is shaped by the interaction between the Moon and the solar wind. In the present thesis, we investigate two aspects of this interaction, namely the interaction between solar wind protons and lunar crustal magnetic anomalies, and the interaction between solar wind protons and lunar regolith.
