1. UHV-CVD growth of Ge/Si nanostructures
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on the results concerning the epitaxial growth and characterization of silicon (Si) and germanium (Ge) nanostructures. The growth technique was the Ultra High Vacuum Chemical Vapor Deposition (UHV-CVD) that works in relatively low temperatures and low growth pressures. LÄS MER
2. Alkali Release and Effects on Biomass Thermal Conversion Processes
Sammanfattning : High alkali content is an important feature of biomass, and it has a series of implications for thermal conversion processes. This thesis focuses on the release of alkali during various biomass thermal conversion processes, including biomass pyrolysis, char gasification, co-conversion of different types of biomass, and thermal conversion of biomass mixed with fresh and used bed materials. 3. Germanium layer transfer and device fabrication for monolithic 3D integration
Sammanfattning : Monolithic three-dimensional (M3D) integration, it has been proposed, can overcome the limitations of further circuits’ performance improvementand functionality expansion. The emergence of the internet of things (IoT) isdriving the semiconductor industry toward the fabrication of higher-performancecircuits with diverse functionality. LÄS MER
4. Experimental study on turbulent boundary-layer flows with wall transpiration
Sammanfattning : Wall transpiration, in the form of wall-normal suction or blowing through a permeable wall, is a relatively simple and effective technique to control the behaviour of a boundary layer. For its potential applications for laminar-turbulent transition and separation delay (suction) or for turbulent drag reduction and thermal protection (blowing), wall transpiration has over the past decades been the topic of a significant amount of studies. 5. Boundary Layer Parametrization in Numerical Weather Prediction Models
Sammanfattning : Numerical weather prediction (NWP) and climate models have shown to have a challenge to correctly simulate stable boundary layers and diurnal cycles. This aim of this study is to evaluate, describe and give suggestions for improvements of the descriptions of stable boundary layers in operational NWP models. Two papers are included. LÄS MER
