  1. 1. On the semitendinosus tendon in anterior cruciate ligament reconstructive surgery

    Författare :Karl O Eriksson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Semitendinosus; anterior cruciate ligament; tendon regeneration; MRI; muscle morphology; muscle biopsy; tendon-to-bone healing; donor site morbidity; functional outcome;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to address issues concerning the use of the semitendinosus tendon as an autologous transplant in anterior cruciate ligament reconstructive surgery. The specific objectives of the study concern the regenerative capability of the semitendinosus tendon following its harvest, the morphology and function of the semitendinosus muscle following harvesting of its tendon, the potential for ingrowth of the semitendinosus tendon graft into the bone tunnels, the early postoperative morbidity after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with a quadruple sernitendinosus graft as compared to the commonly used bone-patellar tendon-bone graft and, finally, the outcome at a minimum 2-year follow-up on comparing the sernitendinosus tendon graft with the bone-patellar tendon-bone graft. 2. 2. Chronic Achilles tendon rupture - surgical reconstruction and post-operative outcomes

    Författare :Niklas Nilsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chronic Achilles tendon rupture; Semitendinosus graft; Tissue sample; Achilles tendon re-rupture; Surgical repair; Gastrocnemius aponeurosis free flap; Health economics; Patient-reported outcome measurements;

    Sammanfattning : When the treatment of Achilles tendon ruptures is delayed by more than 4 weeks, the rupture is classified as chronic. This thesis aims to examine the postoperative outcome of chronic Achilles tendon ruptures treated surgically in terms of long-term functional outcomes, patient-reported outcome measurements, biomolecular changes, and economic cost. 3. 3. On surgical techniques to reduce morbidity after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The significance of harvesting technique, preconditioning, graft choice and the course of bone mineral in the calcaneus

    Författare :Lars Ejerhed; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction; patellar tendon autograft; semitendinosus tendon autograft; preconditioning; bone mineral areal mass;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the study was to reduce undesired postoperative effects, such as anterior knee pain, loss of sensitivity in the knee region and problems with knee-walking after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructive surgery. Furthermore, prospectively to evaluate the bone mineral in the calcanei before and after ACL reconstruction. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using semitendinosus and gracilis autograft. Evaluation of the clinical outcome, radiographic findings, histology and biochemistry

    Författare :Martina Åhlén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anterior Cruciate Ligament; hamstring tendon regeneration; biopsies; cartilage markers; inflammatory cytokines; MRI; strenght measurements;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis focuses on different aspects of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using hamstring tendon (HT) autografts. In Study I, two groups of patients were compared. LÄS MER

  5. 5. New aspects on timing and graft morbidity in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

    Författare :Christoffer von Essen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the effect of different surgical techniques on knee function and outcomes after an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (ACLR). In Study I, 70 patients with a Tegner level of six or more were assessed after randomisation between acute ACLR (within 8 days after the injury) and delayed ACLR (after normalised range of motion [ROM] 6–10 weeks after the injury) using a four-strand semitendinosus tendon graft.
