  1. 16. Hip Revision Surgery : Identification of Genetic Markers and Evaluation of Novel Treatment Strategies

    Författare :Anders Brüggemann; Nils Hailer; Hans Mallmin; Karl Michaëlsson; Olle Nilsson; Per Wretenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is, despite its overall good outcome, for some patients followed by hip revision surgery. This seems in parts to be because of genetic susceptibility to revision surgery. The most common reason for revision surgery is aseptic loosening followed by periprosthetic joint infection and dislocation. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Aspects on bleeding and transfusion in elective orthopaedic surgery. Clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Malin S Carling; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedic surgery; fibrinogen; factor XIII; surgical bleeding; transfusion;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Perioperative bleeding complications are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. One way to minimize perioperative bleeding and transfusion is to identify patients at risk of bleeding. Preoperative fibrinogen plasma concentration and factor XIII (FXIII) activity may be indicators of perioperative bleeding and transfusion. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Fixation of the cemented tibial component : a radiostereometric analysis

    Författare :Hans Christian Hyldahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Aseptic loosening of the tibial component was the major mode for failure in early uni-(UKA) and total condylar knee arthroplasty (TKA). Metal-backing (MB) was introduced to solve the fixation problem of the tibial component, based on biomechanical experiments. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Register-based studies on childhood cancer : relapsed childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia and skeletal adverse events in childhood cancer survivors in the Nordic countries

    Författare :Trausti Óskarsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Although cancer is a rare disease in children, it is the leading disease-related cause of death in children and adolescents in developed countries. Currently 80% of patients become long-time survivors but if a relapse occurs the outcome for most patients is still poor. LÄS MER
