  1. 1. Studies in nuclear receptor Nurr1 : identification of Nurr1-regulated genes

    Författare :Elisabet Hermanson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The nuclear receptor family comprises more than sixty members, including receptors for steroids, thyroid hormone and retinoids. Many nuclear receptors function as ligand- activated transcription factors that regulate the expression of specific target genes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Functional studies on the nuclear receptor Nurr1

    Författare :Mariette Nordzell; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The nuclear receptor (NR) superfamily comprises the largest family of ligand-activated transcription factors in eukaryotes, and it plays critical roles in many aspects of vertebrate development and physiology. The NR family is well conserved throughout evolution, and is found in organisms as diverse as nematodes, flies and mammals. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On retinoid receptors, Nurr1 and related transcription factors in the CNS

    Författare :Rolf H Zetterström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Nurr1; NGFI-B; Nor1; RAR; RXR; CRBP; CRABP; substantia nigra; basal ganglia; dopamine; orphan receptor; vitamin A; retinoic acid; transcription factor;

    Sammanfattning : It has long been known that retinoids (vitamin A derivatives) are required for normal development and growth; in excess however metabolites such as all-trans retinoic acid are potent teratogens. Retinoids exert their effects through transcription factors known as the retinoic acid receptors (RARam -ß and -y) and retinoid X receptors (RXRa, -ß and -y). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Functional studies on the orphan receptor Nurr1 and related retinoid receptors

    Författare :Diogo Sampaio e Castro; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear receptors (NRs) constitute a large family of ligand-inducible transcription factors which includes receptors for steroid hormones, retinoids (vitamin A derivatives), vitamin D an d thyroid hormone. The family also includes a large number of structurally related proteins that lack identified ligands and are therefore refered to as orphan receptors. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Some aspects of nuclear receptor function in the CNS : novel roles of Nurr1 and RXR in developing and mature neurons

    Författare :Åsa Wallén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The nuclear receptor superfamily comprises the receptors for steroid hormones, thyroid hormone, vitamin D and retinoids. The family also includes a number of receptors that lack identified ligands, and are therefore referred to as orphan receptors. LÄS MER
