26. The Lysosomal-Mitochondrial Axis Theory of Apoptosis
Sammanfattning : In many cases, apoptosis may be initiated by a minor lysosomal destabilization, which some time later is followed by a secondary, more pronounced, lysosomal rupture. After exposure to low concentrations of sphingosine, a lysosomotropic detergent, Jurkat and J774 cells underwenr apoptotic cell death, while cells exposed to higher concentrations of this agent showed necrosis. 27. Regulation of T cell apoptosis by calcium and zinc ions
Sammanfattning : Apoptosis is a major form of cell death involved in fundamental processes in the mammalian immune system. Although extensive studies have been carried out to explore the mechanisms involved in lymphocyte apoptosis, a defined signaling pathway is still unclear. LÄS MER
28. RUNX1/AML1 functions and mechanisms regulating granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor transcription
Sammanfattning : Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) is a multipotent cytokine involved in the production and function of hematopoietic cells, and GM-CSF plays in particular a major role in responses to infection and physiological and pathological inflammatory processes. GM-CSF is produced in many cell types, and increases in the intracellular Ca2+ concentration are, like in many other systems, of major importance in the intracellular signaling that determines GM-CSF expression after receptor stimulation of the cells. 29. Histone H1 : Subtypes and phosphorylation in cell life and death
Sammanfattning : The genetic information of a human diploid cell is contained within approximately 2 metres of linear DNA. The DNA molecules are compacted and organized in various ways to fit inside the cell nucleus. Various kinds of histones are involved in this compaction. One of these histones, histone H1 is the topic of the present thesis. LÄS MER
30. Exploring chromatin organization and transcription in S. pombe and hematopoietic development
Sammanfattning : DNA in the eukaryotic nucleus is organized into histone-DNA complex, so-called chromatin, through forming an array of nucleosomes. Each nucleosome consists of a 147bp DNA wrapped around a histone octamer harboring two of each H2A-H2B and H3-H4. Chromatin is orderly packed several times forming a chromosome structure. LÄS MER
